Nothing's Ever Easy
As part of the girls' Christmas presents, we decided to redo their bedrooms. This meant new bedding, wall color, window treatments. They sleep in Ricky & Lucy Ricardo twin beds that belonged to my grandparents. I had painted them several years ago with designs and scriptures. Of course, the color schemes of their new rooms have absolutely nothing to do with their old rooms, so I'm having to redo their beds as well. I knew it was going to be a lot of work, but I thought I was prepared for the task. Since I'm not a patient person, I took my husband's advice and purchased spray paint for the base color--black for Oldest Daughter and pea green for Youngest. I have now learned that you cannot spray paint over latex. At first I thought the bubbles might pass as a faux finish, but upon closer inspection it was obvious that I would have to completely strip both beds and start with bare wood. To make a long story short, I finally finished Oldest Daughter's bed but poor Youngest is sleeping on her mattress and box springs on the floor until I get the energy to complete her bed. I'm trying to convince her that this is a very Bohemian look that's really in style. Needless to say, I have no future in furniture restoration.
